Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer

SCRIPTURE:

““If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:14-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

OBSERVATION:

This is an emphasis on the last part of the lord’s model prayer. Our Lord and savior loved us so much that he was willing to endure the scourging and death on the cross so that we could be forgiven for our sins against God. According to Peter, we take on his divine nature when we become Christians enabling us to go the extra mile and forgive those who do us wrong, too. Forgiveness of others is intertwined with who we are as Christians.

APPLICATION:

If we are unable to forgive people who have done us wrong, then maybe we should take a look at our walk with God. Take time to remember how much we need forgiveness and then pass it on to others. And when we find ourselves trying to justify not forgiving based on whether they deserve forgiveness, just remember that when we still did not deserve forgiveness, Christ died for us.

PRAYER:

Father, help me to forgive those who have done me wrong. Help me not to hold things against them whether they ever correct what they have done wrong or not. I always need your grace and forgiveness, so let me freely give it to others. I place them and what they have done in your hands rather than mine.
