S.O.A.P. Devotion 2018-12-14
Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer
SCRIPTURE:
“When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.”
Matthew 8:1 ESV
OBSERVATION:
After the sermon on the mount, great crowds followed him to see or hear what was next. They wanted to hear his words and to see what miracles he might do next. Jesus was comfortable with the common everyday people and they were comfortable with him.
APPLICATION:
Although many in the crowd deserted Jesus when things got tough, it is highly likely that many of the early Christians came from these in the crowd after the resurrection. But my application today is not for the crowds that follow. It is for those who preach and teach. Let your ministry be one that is comfortable with those who want to spend time with you. They may not all become believers, but that is not your worry. Be accessible anyway.
PRAYER:
Father, help those who seek you and those who may just be curious to be comfortable being around me. Help me to be the kind of man that makes that possible.
