Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer

Scripture:

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5, 6 NLT)

Observation:

This passage is our reminder to put our trust only in God. He I never fails, never leaves us out there alone, is our ultimate helper, and removes all fear. So do not pit your trust in things, money, or people. God is our source. If he does not give you more than trust that what you already have is enough.

Application:

God may use people, money, or things to take care of us, but we need to rest assured that he knows what we really need. He even knows if what we already have is all that we need in order to accomplish what he has for us to do, so I can be satisfied with what I have. I am also thankful when he provides more, but not just because I have more, but thankful that he has more for me to accomplish. I am also thankful that there are so many times that he has provided more than enough for my family and I.

Prayer:

Father, you are my source. It has never been my own skills and abilities that has sustained me. I have always been a bit of a work-a-holic, but that is not my source. Neither has my source been the generosity of others even though you have used many to sustain me in ministry. You gave me my skills and abilities and the opportunities to use them and you moved on the hearts of others to give generously in ministry. Without you, I would have nothing. Thank you Lord, for providing for me.
