Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer

Show your faith…

Scripture:

What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? (James 2:14 NLT)

Observation:

Faith that does not produce holy living is not genuine faith and therefore can not bring anyone to salvation.

Application:

This passage is not saying that we are saved by works, it is merely trying to point out that true faith changes us and produces holy living. Faith that is not complete enough to produce change is not enough. Bottom line, if you really believe that God the Father created everything, sent his son to die on a cross as an atonement for our sins, raised him from the dead, and wants us to become his own, how in the world could you disrespect him by living an ungodly un productive life. You can't! Faith that truly believes will show up in your actions.

Prayer:

Father, I thank you for being real in my life. And I thank you that you did not require good works from me to save me, but I also thank you for changing me into a different person who loves you and wants to do the things that please you. I do what I do because I have faith in you.
