Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer

Scripture:

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first. (1 John 4:16-19 NLT)

Observation:

We all have assurance that God has loved us so much. In fact, God is love and for all of us that live in that love live in God and He in us. As we do, our love grows tone more complete. This love in us allows us to live as Jesus would in this world so we are not fearful of the coming day of judgment. There is no fear of the coming judgment because of this fear. If there is, then we have not fully experienced His perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first.

Application:

The love that God gives not only caused Him to give His Son for us, but also continues to be productive in our lives. It produces a confidence in our salvation, trust in God, love for other believers, the ability to live our lives as Jesus would, deliverance from fear, and an ability to face the coming judgment. We should seek to grow in His love in so that all these things are fully a part of our lives.

Prayer:

Father, help me to grow in your love. Let it assure me of your presence as nothing else can do. Let it show through me so that both those who know you, and those who have yet to know you, will see you in the way I live my life.
