Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer

Scripture:

If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers. (1 John 4:20, 21 NLT)

Observation:

No one can love God without loving their fellow believers. Anyone who says they can are liars. How could we love a God we cannot see if we cannot love the brothers we see. We have been commanded, not requested, to love our fellow believers by God himself.

Application:

Common sense tells us that if the love we have in us came from God, then we will love like God loved. Scripture tells us that he loved us when we were still his enemies. How much more will we love those who are fellow believers whether we have a lot in common with them or not. We are part of the same loving family. Show it!

Prayer:

Father, please do not let me ever get to a place to where your love does not show through me toward other believers. In fact, I want your love to also show through me to those who are not even believers yet. Work through me with your love and let it show.
