Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer

Scripture:

After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” (‭Matthew‬ ‭3‬:‭16-17‬ NLT)

Observation:

Two things here. First this continues the example for believers with the Holy Spirit descending on Him after baptism. Believers receive the Holy Spirit after salvation. Second observation is this is a complete viewing of the holy trinity in one passage. Jesus, the Son coming up out of the water after baptism, the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus in the form of a dove, and the Father speaking audibly of the great joy the son brings to Him. Our one God, in action through the three distinct parts of the trinity.

Application:

I must confess that I do not totally understand how our one God can be all three at once, but then again I do not understand what it took for God to create the universe. I do not have to understand it to accept it. However, I can honestly say that I know it to be true from the deepest parts within me. Our one loving God, sent His Son to die on the cross for my sins, he rose from the dead when the Spirit brought to life his dead body and that same Holy Spirit is here and brought new life to me when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I believe, I was baptized in water, and I have also been baptized in the Holy Spirit as on the day of Pentecost, and one day I will bow down before the Father and worship Him in person.

Prayer:

Father, I am so thankful that you have made a way for me to know you even though I do not understand all things. I thank you for putting enough faith in me that I can accept what I do not understand. I give honor to you Lord, three in one!
