Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer

SCRIPTURE:

“”The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:22-23‬ ‭ESV‬‬

OBSERVATION:

We see with our eyes. It is not only what we see, but how we perceive what we see that makes the difference between godliness and ungodliness, between light and darkness. A healthy eye sees through a lens that sorts things out clearly and sees potential instead of doom. If your eye is bad you see through unhealthy influences and expect the worse out of every situation. This darkness can be in varying stages with total darkness devastating the persons perception of the world around them.

APPLICATION:

Lots of things can cause our eyes to see things in a skewed way. We can be blinded by past bad experiences, hatred, unforgiveness, or a host of other things. We can even be trained to look for the worst in every situation. In war that could save your life, but back home I could make you miserable. We have to learn to look past the darkness rather than let it build up or distract us. Example: I have floaters in my eyes. If I focus on them they will drive you crazy, but instead I choose to ignore them and so I do not even notice they are there. Choose to look past the dark spots in your vision.

PRAYER:

Lord, I know that there are dark spots in my vision. Both physically and spiritually. Help me to focus on the light rather than the darkness. Help me to see potential in all of life’s situations.
