Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer

Scripture:

And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. (Hebrews 10:25 NLT)

Observation:

As the day of the coming of our Lord gets closer and closer, we need to make sure that we continue to gather together in corporate worship and to take time while there to encourage one another.

Application:

Going to church should never be impersonal. It is not to be a gathering of strangers. If we do not know anyone at church and none of them know us, then we are missing out on a huge portion of what the church was intended to be. We do not just come together to worship God and get the instructions that he has to help us grow, but we also are there to serve one another. Part of that involves encouraging one another, but how can we do that if we do not know anything about each other? We need to do our best to get to know others that we attend church with and let them get to know us… And so much more as we see the day approaching!

Prayer:

Father, it is hard sometimes to get to know people we go to church with, but it is so important. Help us to let down our guard and to be both the encouragers of others and willing to allow others to know where we need encouraging. We will worship and we will listen to instruction, but let us also become a member of the family you have placed us in. And Lord, for those of us who travel to so many churches, let us never forget the importance of a home church that knows us and cares about us.
