Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer
Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith. (Hebrews 13:7 NLT)
We need to remember what we were taught and those who taught us. Remember how they not only taught with the word of God, but they also taught with their lives and made a difference in our lives.
Mentors are important in our lives. Yes, we give God all the glory, but he uses people to bring about the good in our lives. Those who have taught and mentored us through the teaching of the word and but the godly example of their lives have made us what we are. We, too, need to do the same for others. This is how we pay forward what has been invested into our lives.
Lord, I thank you for those who have poured into my life through the teaching of the word and the examples they have set for me. Early on was Pastor Danny Hargis who taught me to teach the word, and then for over 30 years, then Pastor Al Roever has taken me to the next level in my study and my teaching, challenging me to dig deeper than ever before, and for Pastor Paul Thompson who pastored Sapulpa, OK and Odessa, Texas who had great pastoral wisdom, and Pastor Norman Owens who demonstrated pastoral love more than any other. I have been blessed, help me to pass these things on to others.
