Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer

Scripture:

But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness. (James 3:17, 18 NLT)

Observation:

God’s wisdom produces good things in us. It is holy and clean, it loves us living in peace with others, it is always gentle, is willing to yield to others rather than fight. It shows mercy and does good deeds. It is not partial to one group over another and always is honest and means what it says. Those who use God’s wisdom to facilitate peace will in turn reap righteousness.

Application:

God’s wisdom is not self gratifying. If our ideas or thoughts on how to say or do things come from God, then it will produce godly things. God does not give us wisdom that leads to things that are not pure and clean. He doesn’t tell us to fight with others, but instead will show us ways to make peace with others. Listen to God’s wisdom and you will show mercy and do good deeds. Do not show partiality to one group over another. If we listen to that still small voice that speaks to us, then we will not lie to each other about anything or misrepresent ourselves to others. When we use his wisdom to produce peace with others, the rewards will be great.

Prayer:

Father, help me to operate in your wisdom and to live in a holy, peaceful, and productive way. When peace seems difficult, give me the right thoughts, and help me to carry out your direction.
