Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer
Scripture:
So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness. (1 Peter 2:1-3 NLT)
Observation:
New born Christians need to finish the repentance process and then seek out nourishment that will help them grow in Christ. In repentance, get rid of ALL evil behavior and stop all of the evil talking including deceit, hypocrisy, and jealousy. As far as nourishment to grow to have the full experience of being a Christian, you should crave it, cry out for it, and make certain you get it.
Application:
Saying a prayer to become a Christian is not a finale. It is to be the end of your old way of doing things and the beginning of you growing up to be a fully mature Christian. But God does not do everything for you. YOU have to get rid of ALL bad behaviors in your life and YOU have to stop being involved in deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech. You will need to be taught in order to grow into who you need to be as a Christian. Crave true biblical teaching, cry out for it, seek it out, and make sure you keep on getting it so that you can be the person God wants you to be. DO NOT continue being the same old person, it is not what a Patrice believer does.
Prayer:
Father thank you for saving me and delivering me from so much, but I also want to thank you for giving me the strength to overcome the things in my life that needed to be gone. I also thank you for the teachers and mentors you have placed in my life to help me grow. Don't ever let me stop learn to be more like you.
