Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer

Scripture:

Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world. (1 Peter 2:11, 12 NLT)

Observation:

This world is not our home, it is a temporary place where we are staying until we go to our eternal home. Because of that, our desires should be different. Instead of seeking worldly or fleshly desires that would destroy our very souls if we get caught up n them, we should carefully live according to the proper ways of a true believer in The Lord Jesus Christ even though we are right here in the middle of our unbelieving neighbors. Even if they accuse us of doing wrong, they will know by our behavior that we must belong to God and therefore will give honor to Him as He judges the world.

Application:

Focus, focus, focus! This life is temporary, but the eternal life and our citizenship in the Kingdom of God have already been given to us. We should live accordingly. The way we live our lives properly in front of pre-Christian unbelievers is a powerful testimony to God's power and grace. Even when they want to get down on us, or do get down on us, they will know deep down that we belong to the most high God.

Prayer:

Father, let me live my life as one that belongs to you and to your kingdom. Let others see You through the way I live my life and let them be drawn to you.
