Scripture – Observation – Application – Prayer
Continued from yesterday about God testifying through the water, the blood, and the Spirit.
Scripture:
And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11, 12 NLT)
Observation:
To sum up God’s testimony is that He has given us eternal life and it came through and is the very life of His Son, Jesus. If we have obtained the Son into our lives then we have this eternal life. Conversely, without having Jesus as an active part of our lives then we do not have eternal life.
Application:
This is the simple difference between those who are “saved” or “lost”. If we have received Jesus Christ as our master, then he will be a part of our life now and we have eternal life. If Jesus is not an active part in our lives now, then we do not have eternal life, instead we have eternal damnation. There is not an option to water this down to comfort others. “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.”
Prayer:
Father, I am thankful that your Son, Jesus, lives in me and that you have given me eternal life. But I am concerned for those who do not have you and will suffer accordingly. Give me the wisdom I need to reach as many as I can so that they, too, will enjoy eternal life. Help me to not be harsh in what I say, but instead in love and straight forward as your Word is here.
